Marcella Detroit, aka Marcy Levy, born and bred in Detroit, Michigan, has been involved in music her entire life. One of her early gigs she opened for David Bowie and went on to touring and recording with Eric Clapton cowriting one of his biggest hits, "Lay Down Sally" and several of his most popular album tracks including "The Core" and "Promises".
She was also part of "Shakespear's Sister". Their song "Stay" is the longest running Number One for a female band in UK history staying at number ONE for 8 weeks. Marcella is also known for her touring and session work for some of the best artists of all time including Elton John, Aretha Franklin, George Benson, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Belinda Carlisle, Bette Midler, Bob Seger and Leon Russell.
Marcella is an artist in her own right and has created solo albums including "Jewel" "Feeler", "Dancing Madly Sideways", "The Upside of Being Down", "The Vehicle" and most recently, her self produced "Gray Matterz" featuring her hit "Drag Queen".
She's a multi instrumentalist playing guitar, ukulele, keyboards, harmonica, percussion, harmonica and flute. She has always been dedicated to keeping up with technology from having one of the first Linn drums and now works with Logic Pro and Pro Tools.
She loves writing with other artists including Charlotte Church, Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau and has worked with some of the best producers of all time including Arif Martin, Jerry Wexler, Tom Down, Glyn Johns, Chris Thomas, Russ Titleman, Jimmy Iovine and more.
Music is and always will be her LIFE.

Marcella Detroit has been involved in music since her childhood. Coming from Detroit and growing up with the Motown sound, she was clearly influenced by the best Motown had to offer. She was singing and performing at school and then went on to join Eric Clapton on stages across the world to audiences from 10,000 to over 100,000 people, including performing with Eric in 1985 for Live Aid. Marcella Detroit has won over the hearts of music lovers from all walks of life; performing at a variety of venues, making loads of public appearances, all the while recording new music.
